Kogi Governor Applauds TETFund …Seeks Support for Newly Established University

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo has applauded the efforts of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in the development of tertiary educational institutions in the State even as he requested for further support for the newly established Kogi State University, Kabba.

Governor Ododo spoke during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono at TETFund Headquarters in Abuja.

He commended the Fund for its impact on the development of tertiary education in the state. “I must say that TETFund has made remarkable impact in supporting higher institutions in Kogi State, but we will continue to seek your support for intervention in developing critical infrastructure in our tertiary educational institutions to help in advancing our agenda for accelerated human capital development in the state.

“I appreciate TETFund for the remarkable impact and timely support for tertiary institutions in Kogi State, such as the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayingba; Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara; Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja; College of Education Ankpa; College of Education (Technical) Kabba, have enjoyed so far,” he said.

The Governor noted that to underscore the importance of education and the commitment of the state government to the sector, education was allocated 40 per cent in the state’s 2024 budget.

He noted that the state was in need of more interventions for its tertiary educational institutions as he specifically requested for support under the Special High Impact Intervention of TETFund.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc Sonny Echono commended the Governor for his leadership approach to governance, describing him as a proactive leader who has put himself out for the service of the people of Kogi State.

He assured the Governor that the Fund would do all that is within its mandate to support Kogi State through interventions in tertiary education to enhance the Governor’s vision of accelerated human capital development in the state.
